Detroit's growing downtown is forcing an annual New Year's Eve tradition to cancel its plans.
"The Drop" event will not be ringing in 2019 this year.
Organizers say with all of the winter activities happening downtown, working out logistics this year has become impossible.
The free event replicated the famous Times Square Ball Drop by lowering a sparkling "D" at midnight. Organizers say the downtown party will return next year to celebrate 2020.
