DETROIT (WXYZ) — Former Congressman John Dingell, who is currently in hospice care while battling cancer, posted a tweet Wednesday saying, "You're not done with me yet."

While in hospice care, Dingell, without missing a beat, decided to let the public know that he is a fighter. And although his wife, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, wants him to rest, Dingell proves that his Twitter wit is still strong. Dingell added that his wife Debbie will continue to tweet on his behalf as he dictates messages.

"The Lovely Deborah is insisting I rest and stay off here," Dingell wrote in the tweet. "But after long negotiations we've worked out a deal where she'll keep up with Twitter for me as I dictate the messages. I want to thank you all for your incredibly kind words and prayers. You're not done with me just yet."

Dingell, who is the longest-serving U.S. congressman in history, suffered a heart attack in September and was hospitalized.

A source close to Dingell's family confirmed that the former representative was in hospice care Wednesday morning. Debbie asked the public for "prayers and privacy" in this difficult time.
