Feel like you're paying too much for auto insurance?
There is a group here in Michigan that plans to rally for a change in the law.
Research shows Michiganders pay the third highest insurance premiums in the country.
Insurance companies say it is because of a mandate requiring everyone to purchase unlimited lifetime medical benefits. It was put in place to make sure those who suffer life changing injuries in a crash can get the care they need.
In Detroit today there will be a news conference to announce the formation of the Detroit Alliance to Fight for Fair Auto Insurance.
Members are calling for reforms to Michigan's auto no-fault system that lower costs and protect Detroit drivers.
A press release said Detroiters in particular are paying far too much in auto insurance premiums, in some cases up to $5,000 per year. This amount far exceeds everywhere else in the state and the country.
The release said this issue needs to be addressed and not at the expense of auto accident survivors.
We will learn more about their call for change after the press conference scheduled for 10 a.m.
