Award-winning filmmaker and visual artist Nicole Macdonald will present her updated experimental documentary, "A Park for Detroit," about Belle Isle, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Annex Gallery, 333 Midland, in Highland Park. She'll also answer questions as part of a panel discussion focusing on the impact of the Grand Prix on the island environment.

Admission is $5 donation. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Macdonald's documentaries on Detroit have won Best Michigan Filmmaker at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Best Documentary at Humboldt Film Festival, and the John Michaels Filmmaker Award for Social Activism and Community Empowerment at the Big Muddy Film Festival.

This event is the first in a series, "Belle Isle: Artists Speak Out," featuring painters, musicians, and poets sharing their work and thoughts about Detroit's beautiful island park.
