In Detroit, the advisory covers the area bordered by McNichols to the south, Linwood to the east and Conner to the west. The Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University are also affected by the boil water alert. View the affected area here.
City officials say it was triggered by a sudden loss of pressure in the system from the Great Lakes Water Authority.
Officials hope to have good news around noon today, but that is at the earliest.
