DPD investigating two shootings, car accident over the weekend in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating a few incidents over the weekend, including a non-fatal shooting, accidental shooting and car accident.

Here is preliminary information from DPD:

Non-Fatal Shooting – 18300 block of W. Chicago

On Oct. 17 around 11:08 p.m., a 31-year-old male victim walked up to an older model truck and began talking to a male.

Police say as the victim was standing talking, another male walked up and shot the victim. Both men then went to a vehicle and sped off from the location going east on West Chicago.

Medics then took the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated and listed temporary serious condition.

Critical Auto Accident - E. Davidson/Klinger

On Oct. 17 around 11:05 a.m. in the area of E. Davison and Klinfer, a 28-year-old male was operating a black 2009 Hyundai Elantra with a 24-year old female passenger. Police say they were traveling west on E. Davison when the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling east getting off the freeway, crossed the center line and struck the victims vehicle head on.

Both of the victims were taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.

The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by officers and arrested nearly one block away from the scene, police say.

Accidental Non-Fatal Shooting – 9000 block of Grandville

On Oct. 18 around 2 a.m., an 18-year-old male victim reported that he accidentally dropped his gun, the weapon discharged and struck him.

According to police, the victim was then privately taken to a local hospital where he was treated and listed stable condition.
