PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 56-year-old resident of Pontiac was arrested after allegedly trying to run over his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend following an altercation.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office say the attempted assault happened in the 600 block of Columbia St. on Wednesday.

The suspect's ex-girlfriend told officers that he had just been released from jail a few days earlier and she was trying to give him back his vehicle. She showed up with her current boyfriend who was driving a motorcycle. He was then confronted by the ex-boyfriend.

There was an argument that eventually calmed down. The ex-boyfriend then got into his vehicle and back up before accelerating rapidly, and trying to hit the ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. The suspect drove over the new boyfriend's motorcycle that was parked on the sidewalk, then into a wooden fence and into a neighbor's backyard. The suspect then exited the yard through another area of the fence, causing extensive damage to the property.

The entire ordeal was captured on home surveillance.

The next morning, the suspect was located and arrested without incident, officers say. He's currently being held at the Oakland County Jail.
