Auburn Hills police say a driver crashed into a building on University Drive and then left the scene on Thursday.

The vehicle was found inside of the building with no sign of the driver, according to police. A strong smell of natural gas at the scene caused evacuations to that building and one nearby.

Police were reportedly able to locate the driver's home and discovered blood outside of the residence.

Police say they were later able to locate the driver, a 30-year-old Auburn Hills resident. He was transported to a local hospital for upper body injuries.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in the crash, police say.
