(WXYZ) — A driver fleeing police has died after a crash early Tuesday morning in Southfield.

According to police, the driver was being pursued by Berkley police and ran a red light at 11 Mile and Greenfield and hit another vehicle. The driver then hit police, they say.

Police say officers were dispatched on a report of a stalking incident, and saw a vehicle leaving the area.

Berkley officers tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle took off. The pursuit was headed southbound on Greenfield when the crash occurred.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle died, and the drier of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. That driver was a 53-year-old man from Warren.
