Driver not wearing seatbelt ejected onto freeway after crash in Southfield

(WXYZ) — A driver lost control and crashed into the median while driving southbound on the Lodge Freeway Thursday night.

Michigan State Police say the crash happened near Mt. Vernon.

The 31-year-old driver of a 2005 Kia was ejected onto the freeway. She was transported to Providence Southfield and is in critical condition.

Police say there was an open bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle.

The driver was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash. Michigan State Police will continue to investigate.
