DOVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 32-year-old driver is in critical condition after he reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a trailer, police say.

Police say that on Oct. 27, in Dover Township, a Chevy Silverado pulling a 20-foot enclosed trailer was traveling eastbound on Beecher Road. A Jeep Patriot, driven by the 32-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Morey Highway and failed to stop for a stop sign. Police say the Jeep then struck the truck and trailer, causing the trailer to detach and roll over.

The Jeep rolled over multiple times and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle, police say. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The injured driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The driver of the Chevy Silverado was not injured.

Police say the driver of the Jeep admitted to smoking marijuana just before the crash.
