Sumpter Township Police arrested a 44-year-old Allen Park man after he took police on a wild chase through Washtenaw County.
Police responded to a call of a possible drunk driver near Willow Road in the Sumpter Road area Monday night.
The suspect sped off southbound when the officers tried to stop the vehicle. The chase continued onto westbound Oakville Waltz then into Washtenaw County, where police say the driver fired a gun at them at least five times.
The man continued into the city of Milan border before turning around, driving toward police, and hitting two police patrol cars.
The officers then arrested the suspect and found five firearms along with several thousand rounds of ammunition in his vehicle.
Both Sumpter Township officers suffered minor injuries from the collision and arrest.
Authorities say charges will be sought through the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office after the investigation.
