Dry conditions in metro Detroit causing concern over fireworks

Plan on shooting off fireworks this holiday weekend? Then you'll want to make sure your community hasn't banned them due to the dry conditions.

With the recent dry weather we've been seeing across southeast Michigan, there is new warning this morning for those wanting to set off fireworks.

The village of Holly has banned consumer-grade fireworks altogether. There are also bans on open burning in other communities.

Burn bans are in place in Fenton, Grand Blanc, Davison, Lansing and East Lansing.

State leaders are eyeing the potential of a ban on fireworks this year given the extremely dry conditions. Right now, state law allows people to fire off consumer grade fireworks the day before, day of and day after the holiday.

State leaders and local fire departments urging everyone to be careful and use caution when or if you choose to set fireworks off.
