(WXYZ) — DTE reports that there are still 10,000 customers without power in southeast Michigan after heavy morning storms.
The remaining outages are expected to be resolved by Thursday night.
The outages are scattered across southeast Michigan, and DTE says they're caused by several trees and tree branches falling onto power lines after storms rolled through the region. DTE says almost 36,000 customers were initially affected, with 22,000 already restored.
Crews are currently assessing damages, but DTE says they expected to have power fully restored tonight.
Affected customers are encouraged to report their outages through dteenergy.com or the DTE Energy Mobile app.
DTE provided the following safety information about downed power lines:
Customers should stay at least 20 feet away from all power lines and anything they're in contact with, and consider them live. They are extremely dangerous. Treat every power line as if it is energized. Customers should also heed the warning of yellow caution tape, which indicates there is a downed power line in the area. DO NOT CROSS YELLOW CAUTION TAPE.
