Chesterfield Township police are investigating a fatal, six-vehicle accident on I-94, south of 23 Mile Road.
Police say multiple vehicles were caught on fire after the crash occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Cars were backed up during rush hour at the exit ramp to 23 Mile Road on eastbound I-94.
Six cars in total were involved – the other five drivers all walked away with minor injuries.
All lanes on eastbound I-94 at 21 Mile Road were closed after the crash but have since reopened.
