The Eastern Market Corporation posted a statement on their Facebook page following complaints that a vendor was displaying the confederate flag at the market.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday, July 29. Eastern Market Corporation says it was the first time in more than 10 years that it has been managing the market to receive such complaints.

In the post, the President of Eastern Market, Dan Carmody, said they are revising their vendor handbook to prohibit offensive language and hate signs.

The new policy will go into effect Tuesday, August 1. All vendors will be notified of the policy change by email.
