Eastpointe police arrest suspect for allegedly breaking into vehicles, resisting arrest

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police have arrested a suspect accused of breaking into vehicles on three streets in Eastpointe, and then resisting arrest.

Benson Lee Wangsness faces charges of breaking and entering a vehicle and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

The break ins allegedly happened on three targeted streets in the area – Almond, Rosalind and Roxana.

Police are evaluating evidence from other larcenies in the area, saying that Wangsness, who is currently on probation, may also be connected to those.

If you had your vehicle broken into on Sunday, Eastpointe police are asking you to contact them.

The department adds that residents should remain vigilant in protecting their property saying, "again and again, lock your cars at night. Do not leave valuable in your vehicle at night especially in plain view, Make it a point to check your vehicle each night before you got to bed."
