The entire city of Eastpointe was put under a boil water advisory early Saturday morning.
A sergeant with the Eastpointe Police Department told 7 Action News a regulator malfunctioned overnight which caused several water main breaks in the city.
The malfunction was possibly caused due to power outages in the area.
Several crews are working to fix the problem as soon as possible.
There is no timeline as to when the advisory will be lifted.
In the meantime, Eastpointe residents are advised to boil water from their taps to kill any trace of bacteria.
