About 6,000 students in Detroit Public Schools are bilingual, but a handful of students are just learning English and they're too old to be placed in the grade appropriate for the level of education they received in their native countries.

There wasn't a place for those children to learn English and get an education until now.

Beginning this school year, at Priest Elementary-Middle School, there is a new program called the English Language Learners program to educate those children so they can move on to high school or adult education.
