A Southgate man is recovering after his car plunged into the Detroit River off Grosse Ile this afternoon.
Authorities say the man, in his 70's, was backing out of a driveway when he lost control and backed into the water, his car sinking fast.
Two nearby bystanders ran to help him out of the water. He was transported to a nearby hospital but is expected to be ok.
The scene was located in the Detroit River near the Free Bridge.
