Halloween is several weeks away, but if dressing up in elaborate, yet terrifying, costumes to scare strangers is your thing, then you're in luck. Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac is hiring "scare actors" for its upcoming season.
“Halloween never ends for us. We are working on this year round,” co-owner Ed Terebus explained. “It’s going to be bigger and better than ever.”
Terebus and his crew are hosting a casting call for gals and ghouls to be their ‘scare actors’ for their September 21 opening.
“Really concentrating on the live actors and how they’re going to come up and set up to the plate.”
They’re looking for 250 actors and this week is their final casting call.
“Come on down, try it out, we will teach you everything.” Jerome Helton is the Director of Entertainment said, “Lots of energy, they’re excited, that love Halloween.”
“Personality, it’s not the person,” Terebus explained. “Anybody from 18 to 60. Somebody who has a passion for scaring people.”
These actors already made the cut and are training in ‘Boo School.’
Auditions to join the frightening fun at the four-story haunted attraction are open to the public on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, Aug. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m.
- Friday, Aug. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m.
- and on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
You must be at least 18 years old to apply, and you'll need to have reliable transportation. All positions are paid and if you've never scared a soul in your life, no worries! Experience is not necessary, according to a post on the haunted attraction's Facebook page. Veteran scare actors will provide training.
There are a few other requirements, and they're all listed below:
Auditions will be held at Erebus Escape Rooms, 34 Oakland Ave., Pontiac, Michigan, which is six blocks north of Erebus Haunted Attraction, 18 S. Perry St.
