Evacuations are underway in Grosse Pointe Woods after a gas line was hit and now there is a gas leak.

The evacuations are happening in the area of Anita and Charlevoix, which is off of Vernier, east of Mack Ave.

Mason Elementary School is on internal lockdown while the evacuations are going on.

Right now, it's not clear how long crews are expected to take to cap the line.

This is the second time in as many weeks that a gas line was hit in the area.

On May 30, a gas line was hit in the area of Morningside near Grosse Pointe North.

It took less than an hour for crews to cap the line.
