(WXYZ) — An ice storm moving towards metro Detroit could keep you in for the next few days and you'll want to be prepared.
The storm is expected to come in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Unexpected power outages could occur – stock up on the essentials:
- Keep a three-day supply of food and water and try to have some non-perishable items handy.
- Kitty litter can help with traction on ice.
- Stock up with several flashlights and batteries
- Charge your cell phone and other electronics before the storm hits
If possible, stay indoors. If you have to go outside, keep at least half of a tank of gas in your car at all times, as well as a snow scraper, hat and gloves.
