Imitation really is the best form of flattery, right? Just remember that Snapchat.

Facebook is launching Messenger Day. It’s not a day of celebration, rather a new feature within the company’s Messenger app.

Facebook says Messenger Day is a different way for users to share moments in real time through short videos or photos. Stickers, templates and text can also be added.

Users then have the option to post it to their "Day" --  a tad reminiscent of Snapchat Stories.

Each capture disappears after 24 hours and you can choose if you want everyone in Messenger to view it or just select people, according to Facebook.

Facebook says it has started the global roll out of Messenger Day for both iOS and Android.

To get the new feature, make sure your version of Messenger is up-to-date.
