Brothers Karlos Dillard and Timothy McGough are grieving the loss of their mother and sister, Mia and Jatia McGough. Mia and Jatia, along with Jatia's girlfriend, Raeniquah (Niiqua) Watson, all died in a crash Thursday morning in Redford Township. They're asking witnesses to come forward. They desperately want to know what led to the deadly crash.
"I know that will help my brothers and I have closure. Just to know what happened in their last couple moments," says Dillard.
Karlos believes his sister, Jatia, was driving the Kia Optima that police say was speeding down Telegraph before it went airborne and crashed into a pole at W. Chicago.
"We want to know was it an accident .. was she being irresponsible?"
Karlos' brother, Timothy McGough, also has questions about what happened. He says the women had come up to surprise him at an event in Detroit. The women were all from Muskegon.
“The last thing I told then was I love them. I told my momma and then I hugged her,” Timothy says. “Right now, I’m just angry. Yesterday, I wasn’t me. I went through a whole spell. I was sick yesterday, I was really sick and actually, physically sick.”
Karlos says he talked to people at the party who say his sister did have a couple of drinks.
"Had they seen anyone waddling, had my sister looked impaired or anything and everyone said they just seemed like they were having a good time," says Karlos.
Karlos says he feels like he just lost his family for a second time. He and his siblings were removed from their mom and put into foster care as kids. It wasn't until they'd become adults that they
all found each other and reconnected with their mom.
"We had a lot of problems as far as what happened with us in the system, but we were working on it. I wish we had more time. I want to know what happened to my family and I want to make sure they're buried properly because that's the least I can do," he says.
Karlos and his family are asking any witnesses to come forward and call police. They want to know if a second car could have been involved in any way.
Timothy McGough says, “My mama was my everything, but my sister held me down, taught me half that thing I know. For me to lose both of them, one of them is supposed to be here to help me through this, now I don’t got either one to help me through this situation.”
Redford Twp. police say they definitely want to hear from witnesses. They also say it will be several weeks before toxicology results are in to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The McGough family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral services. Here's a link: https://www.gofundme.com/mcgough-funeral-fundraiser
