NOVI, Mich. (WXYZ) — A deadly rollover crash temporarily closed down lanes on eastbound I-696 after M-5 in Novi Wednesday morning.
According to Michigan State Police, the driver was going east on I-696 and drove off the road, hitting a bridge abutment, around 5:30 a.m.
The driver, identified as a 45-year-old man from Brighton, was killed in the crash. Police say he was the only person in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

The freeway was shut down earlier for an investigation.
Drivers were detoured onto the M-5 east ramp.
