De'ljuan Williams was someone everyone wanted to be around, his father said.
“Everybody liked him, everybody wanted to be around him," said Landrew Bell, Williams' father. "He brings energy to anywhere he goes... ain’t no bad kid,”
Williams was shot and killed outside an Eastpointe party Saturday night.
Eastpointe police say two groups of people started shooting each other after leaving a party and getting into an argument.
“I guess an altercation happened and he was an innocent bystander,” Bell said.
When officers arrived at the scene near Wilmot and Holland Avenue, they found 15-year-old De'ljuan Williams lying on the front lawn of a residence with a gunshot wound to his neck. He was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 34-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the foot. A third victim, a 19-year-old man, was shot in his torso and is expected to survive.
Bell hopes the gunman will take some responsibility and turn himself in.
“Put down the guns, come forward, talk,” Bell said.
“Only 15 and they did this to my brother. It’s a cold world, it’s a real cold world,” said William’s stepsister Laila Stovall.
The family is in the process of planning a candlelight vigil for the teen.
