If you want to treat dad right this Father's Day, you may want to consider a gift that will keep him cool! Big heat returns to Metro Detroit this weekend.

Temperatures will rise into the mid-80s on Friday, but more noticeable will be a surge in humidity. Dewpoints will be rising through the weekend making it feel like it's well into the 90s.

Father's Day looks to be the hottest of the weekend with highs in the 90s. The record for June 17 in Detroit is 99° set in 1994. We won't get that hot, but it sure will feel steamy!

Long lasting wet weather shouldn't be an issue Father's Day weekend.  However, when temperatures climb into the upper 80s and 90s and dew points are near or above 70°, it doesn't take a lot for a few thunderstorms to develop across the area.

The chance is slight on Saturday and a bit higher on Sunday. If thunderstorms do pop-up, it will be even more humid and uncomfortable outside. You'll want to plan something that will keep you all cool!
