FBI, MSP search Michigan Sen. Bert Johnson's home, Lansing office

A joint task force that includes the FBI and Michigan State Police conducted a search at the home and office of State Sen. Bert Johnson, Michigan State Police confirms to 7 Action News.

According to MSP, they searched his home in Highland Park and his office in Lansing.

Johnson, who was born and raised in Detroit, represents Michigan's 2nd district. That includes Highland Park, Hamtramck, northeast Detroit, Harper Woods and all five Grosse Pointe communities.

He has served in his role since 2010 and previously served two terms in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Agents were putting papers into boxes and carrying them from the home, and at least one computer and other boxes were removed from the home.

Johnson has had trouble with money before, dealing with campaign troubles and not paying his bills.

They searched the agency until they left around 11:45 a.m.

We have reached out to Johnson by phone but has not heard a response.
