(WXYZ) — A federal judge has upheld Michigan's election results in a lawsuit filed by Republicans to overturn Michigan's results that gave Joe Biden the state and its 16 Electoral College votes.

In the ruling that came down early Monday morning, Judge Linda Parker said that the the plaintiffs' relief they wanted was "stunning in its scope and breathtaking in its reach. If granted, the relief would disenfranchise the votes of 5.5 million Michigan citizens who, with dignity and hope, and a promise of voice, participated in the 2020 General Election."

The lawsuit was brought by six Republicans and was filed by Conservative attorney Sidney Powell, who had worked with President Trump's campaign before the campaign cut ties with her. In the lawsuit, they requested that the judge order Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to sign off on results that declared Trump the winner of the election despite Biden wining by more than 150,000 votes.

It was filed against Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Michigan Board of State Canvassers.

The judge shot down several of the allegations in the lawsuit, including the claim that the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause was violated.

According to Parker, that claim that votes for Trump were destroyed or switched was "nothing but speculation and conjecture."

"This lawsuit seems less about achieving the relief Plaintiffs seek—as much of that relief is beyond the power of this Court— and more about the impact of their allegations on People’s faith in the democratic process and their trust in our government," Parker wrote. "Plaintiffs ask this Court to ignore the orderly statutory scheme established to challenge elections and to ignore the will of millions of voters. This, the Court cannot, and will not, do. The People have spoken."
