FENTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Fenton Police Department is warning the public about a a scam requesting money for the department's benevolent fund.
People targeted have received envelopes in the mail requesting donations in support of the fund.
"The Fenton Police Department has not and does not solicit donations," the department wrote in a Facebook post. "We do not have a Benevolent fund. If you receive these pledge envelopes, please bring it to our department as we would be interested in seeing it and where it came from.
