DETROIT (WXYZ) — A person of interest is in custody after a two-alarm fire broke out at an occupied apartment building Wednesday afternoon.

The building is located at 1705 Oakman Blvd. near Linwood on Detroit's west side.

According to Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell, crews took a defensive position to battle the large fire, and were able to get things under control.

Authorities have not stated whether residents were in the building at the time of the fire, but have confirmed that there were no injuries. Fornell added that the building may have been undergoing renovations at the time of the fire.

Investigators have not been able to access the building yet to determine the cause of the fire just yet.

The investigation is ongoing.
