DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit fire and hazardous materials crews responded to what could be more toxic chemicals in our environment.
More than 3 dozen barrels were found unattended behind a vacant building on John R. between 7 and 8 Mile in northeast Detroit.
The focus is on what was a business inside a tan building that appears to be closed or abandoned.
Detroit fire are trying to establish what the business is, and who the owner is.
They found 40 barrels behind it. They say they’ve been here about a year and a half.
The barrels were sealed, not leaking out. They were not labeled.
They have been taken away to see what is or was inside.
There does not appear to be any contamination issue around here at this time,
But this case is still in the early stages with the Detroit fire marshal investigating.
