Five metro Detroit cities are among the top best 100 cities to raise kids in the United States, according to a new study from alarms.org.

The study took into account many major factors, including graduation rates, crime rates, health insurance coverage and median income.

The highest city from Michigan on the list is Ann Arbor at No. 19.

"Ann Arbor is a beautiful city of about 120,782, home to the University of Michigan and renowned for its history of progressive politics and lushly forested parks and residential sections," the study wrote. "For parents that want their children to grow up in an environment that balances Midwestern modesty with political and cultural open-mindedness, there's no better option than Ann Arbor."

Rochester Hills was next on the list at No. 37, followed by Farmington Hills at No. 43, Livonia at No. 70 and Troy at No. 71.

The top city on the list was San Ramon, Calif, followed by Newton, Mass., Newport Beach, Calif., Pleasanton, Calif. and Flower Mount, Texas.
