Flint residents want answers from governor

Flint residents will watch Governor Rick Snyder’s State of the State very closely.

Picking up a case of water at Fire Station #5 has become a part of the daily routine for lifelong Flint resident, Sherman Johnson Jr.

He calls the routine a pain, but he doesn't think the governor cares about his plight.

"It's a tragedy, he's the governor of Michigan and he don't give a damn,” said Johnson.

Johnson doesn’t think the governor will be able to say much to improve his situation.

"You see, he doesn't live in Flint. Tell him to come here and drink some of the water for sure. Let him come here and drink some of the water,” said Johnson.

From cooking to cleaning, bathing, even watering pets and plants, daily activities must be altered and there’s no end in sight.

Flint resident, Robert Hempel said these daily changes are nothing compared to the concerns he has for the future.

"State, local and federal have failed us and now I'm concerned about my daughter's well being,” said Hempel.

His daughter Heidi told 7 Action News she’s scared as she tries to understand what it all means.

"I guess you die from it and brain damage,” said Heidi.

Hempel wants transparency and answers.

"Someone has to be held accountable, someone has to be held accountable for this mess, that's the bottom line,” said Hempel.

The Governor’s State of the State is Tuesday at 7:00 pm and it will be airing on WXYZ-TV Channel 7 and streaming on WXYZ.com.
