(WXYZ) — Former spokesman for Detroit Land Bank and radio host Craig Fahle talks about drunk driving and cocaine case

Craig Fahle said on his podcast, “I’m sorry. Truly sorry.” He was arrested in November in Grosse Pointe City for driving drunk and in possession of cocaine. His blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit at .221.

He opened up on his podcast after his story hit the newspapers.

He resigned from his job with the Detroit Land Bank in March of last year, well ahead of his November arrest. It was a big job in the city agency that takes over houses that are abandoned, in foreclosure or vacant and the bank has an inventory of 27,000 homes.

But on the podcast he said, “My world was crumbling around me. I was unable to pay my bills which created problems not only for me, but my family and my friends. I was too arrogant to realize I was in a downward spiral and it all came to a head one bad night in November.”

On the air he did not say his drug possession was cocaine. When he talked with me on the phone he would not say how much he used and where he got it.

On the air he said, “The work now is to make sure I never put anyone in harms way again. It doesn’t end when the media coverage stops. I have some work to do. And I’m doing it.”

In his podcast he didn’t say what his terms are in his plea deal. He told me on the phone is it one-year probation and community service working in a church.

When asked if he got a sweat heart deal, he said, “I have a good attorney.”
