Fmr. Harper Woods cop charged with heroin possession, theft from department

A former Harper Woods police officer is facing a slew of charges, including possessing heroin and larceny.

According to Wayne County Prosecutory Kym Worthy, 37-year-old Michael Lynch is charged with one count of misconduct in office, one count of possession of heroin and six counts of larceny in a building.

It is alleged that Lynch stole various items from the Harper Woods Police Department property room between Feb. 4 and Feb. 10. Right now, it's not detailed what he stole, but prosecutors expect to present the specific facts during the preliminary exam.

Lynch was arraigned on the charges Wednesday afternoon.
