(WXYZ) — Ford is adding 550 jobs at its Kentucky Truck Plant and moving the same number of jobs from its Louisville Assembly Plant.
The auto company plans to boost Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator production by 20 percent.
Ford says the demand for both is driving an increase in production of 20 percent at the Kentucky plant. The Navigator had its best sales year since 2007.
Recently, Ford announced production changes and job cuts at two metro Detroit plants - The Van Dyke Transmission plant in Sterling Heights and the Dearborn Diversified Manufacturing Plant. Additionally, the company will be eliminating more salaried jobs as part of its "redesign" process.
The company also announced in January that it was planning to cut thousands of jobs in Europe as part of its restructuring plan.
