The Ford Motor Company is partnering with Kode With Klossy to expand coding camps for young women across the country, the automaker announced today.

Kode With Klossy is an organization -- founded by supermodel Karlie Kloss -- that hosts free two-week programs to help motivate girls to pursue careers in STEAM-related fields.

Kloss was reportedly inspired to start the organization after taking a coding class.

“Before my first class, the idea that I could build something with code seemed practically impossible,” stated Kloss in a press release. “But after just a couple of classes, I was working with my classmates to program a small drone, and I realized coding is about creativity – just like art and fashion – and that women with these skills have the power to shape our future.”

With Ford's help, the program will now expand to 15 summer camps in 10 cities, including the Detroit/Dearborn area. The automaker will be offering 300 scholarships to young women ages 13 to 18 nationwide so they can attend at one of the locations.

Ford says the partnership is one of several educational initiatives it's working on to prepare the next generation of automakers.

If you'd like to apply for the free, commuter summer camp, go here. Your video submission and written essay should reflect your passion in the field and explain why you want to learn to code.
