A former state representative grabbed a sword and a portable toilet, and headed to the state Capitol this morning.

Former Rep. Lorence Wenke did this to protest the so-called "bathroom bills" in the Michigan House and Senate.

He says they violate the civil rights of intersex and transgender people.

Supporters of the bills say people should only use the restroom that matches the gender on their I.D. or birth certificate, and that the bills are needed to protect the privacy of people as they use the restroom.
