Emmy-award winning journalist Ron Savage, who was an anchor and reporter at Fox 2, has died. He was 63 years old.

We're told Savage suffered a heart attack during a training exercise with the Milford Fire Department, where he also worked as a firefighter.

According to his biography on Fox 2's website, Savage has worked with Fox 2's Problem Solver Investigations since 1999, exposing corruption and scams in metro Detroit. He also produces the station's Most Wanted segments.

On top of being the station's weekend evening co-anchor, Savage held a State of Michigan medical license as an EMT, according to Fox 2.

He has earned two citations for outstanding performance, according to Fox 2. One for a commercial factory fire and the other for rescuing a critically injured driver in an overturned semi.

His favorite quote, according to his Fox 2 biography was from his father, Frank, who said, "You don't have to be perfect, just do your best."

Our thoughts are with the Savage family and the entire Fox 2 team.
