TAYLOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — This Sunday, Legally Armed In Detroit – a gun rights advocacy group – is holding free firearm training for women at Top Gun Shooting Sports in Taylor.

Since the event is free, there will be no charge for the use of the firearm, ammunition or time at the range. There are four separate time slots women can sign up for to participate. To register, visit the Facebook event page.

The lesson includes a safety briefing, loading ammunition and shooting.

No prior firearms training or experience is required. Women experienced with firearms also can attend to improve marksmanship skills.

Last year, the goal was to invite 800 women to the event. This year, instructor Rick Ector, hopes 900 women attend.

Anyone under the age of 18 who wants to participate is required to have permission to attend the event from a parent or legal guardian.

This is the 8th year Legally Armed In Detroit is hosting their women’s shoot event.
