FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Farmington Hills Police and Fire departments, in partnership with the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities, is offering free hands-only CPR, Narcan training and Narcan kits during a community event on Feb. 3.
“We are reaching out to anyone who knows a person who is at risk of overdosing. We want community members and families to be prepared to act quickly if an overdose situation arises,” said Farmington Hills Police Commander Bonnie Unruh. “People need to know how to perform hands-only CPR and how to give a dose of Narcan, so they can potentially save a loved one’s life."
The event is between 6 and 9 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Farmington Hills City Hall, 31555 W. 11 Mile Road.
Hands-only CPR training, which is not a certification course, is from 6 to 7 p.m., according to a news release. From 7 to 9 p.m. is the Narcan training.
All community members are welcome to attend the event; there is no residency requirement. Participants age 18 and over will receive a Narcan kit with 4-milligram doses of Nasal Naloxone, also known as Narcan.
