WYANDOTTE (WXYZ) — When Jeff Faber met a guy named Archie at a local gym, neither could have imagined just how much their friendship would help so many children.

It wasn't until Jeff was watching local news that he realized Archie was Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton.

Then one day at the gym, Archie was telling Jeff and his wife Kelly about their Shop With A Cop program and the couple knew they could help.

Several years ago, Jeff and Kelly started BREW (Bridging Resources to Enhance Well-being) , a non-profit organization to help seniors and meals on wheels programs. Jeff said picking that particular name for the foundation was simple. He likes beer.

They organized the "Taco Hop" with another friend Josh Cade, owner of Whiskeys On The Water in Wyadotte. And in the past four years they have raised over $80,000 with every penny of the proceeds going to help seniors and food pantries in metro Detroit and other charities.

This year, they decided to donate $5,000 to the Wyandotte Police Department's Shop With A Cop program.

"It means everything. This is life-changing for these kids," Archie said about the joy the children get out of Christmas shopping and the connections they make with their officers.
