The funeral for a Detroit firefighter who died of a heart attack after battling two fires over the weekend was held Thursday.

Kevin Ramsey, 50, was a 20-year veteran of the force. He fought back-to-back fires in commercial buildings on Saturday morning.

When he came back to the station, he complained of not feeling well and was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital where he later died of a heart attack.

"Detroit lost a hero tonight," Detroit mayor Mike Duggan said on Saturday. "I hope everyone in the city will keep the Ramsey family in their thoughts and prayers."

"We lost a firefighter today, Detroit Fire Department commissioner Eric Jones said on Saturday. "Firefighter Kevin Ramsey. A 20 year veteran who spent 2 years with EMS, 18 years with fire."
