Garden City man, 75, charged in double non-fatal shooting of man, caregiver

GARDEN CITY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 75-year-old Garden City man has been charged in connection two the non-fatal shooting of two people.

According to a release, Phillip Joseph Demouy allegedly shot his caregiver and her uncle on Sept. 16. The shooting happened at 11:01 a.m. in the 180 block of Belton.

Police say when they arrived to the home, the 62-year-old male victim was outside of the location with a non-fatal wound, and was treated by EMS and taken to a local hospital. The female victim, a 42-year-old woman from Garden City, was found inside the home. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.

Demouy was taken into custody and charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault and felony firearm.

Demouy received a $300,000 cash surety bond/10%, and is scheduled for a court hearing on Sept. 30.
