Some people are packing up the family and road tripping for the holiday weekend, while others have decided not to hit the road and just stay home!

In many cases, it’s all about the mean green and the spike in prices at the pump!

Right now, the average gas price in Michigan is around $3.13. In some spots in Metro Detroit it’s in the $3.20 range.

Many of the folks we came across are staying put this holiday weekend. Number one, because of the gas prices and number two, why live Metro Detroit, when this is one of the best times of the year!

“I’m going to Belle Isle and enjoy my family. Praise good, its all good”, says Dana Banks.

We spent some time chatting with people on Belle Isle, who tell us, there is no place they’d rather be.

“Gas prices are out of control and people would rather just spend the money on something else, make sure they got their bbq stuff and they want to spend time at home”, says Bradley Highstreet.

Now matter what you decided to do, fill up the tank and hit the road or stay home, be safe and enjoy!
