If you have document mountains around your house, it’s time to plan a trip to the ballpark.
No, not for catching a Detroit Tigers game -- more for watching your papers get sliced and diced into bits.
Comerica Park is hosting Comerica Bank's annual Shred Day this Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Companies Iron Mountain Incorporated and Re-Source Partners are also involved in the efforts.
According to Comerica Bank, the document shredding event helps people who have papers with sensitive information get rid of them safely, and keep them away from thieves.
The bonus: If you're harboring old electronics too, you can bring those along to scrap.
The event is free, but if you want to give back in some way, Gleaners Food Bank will on hand to accept nonperishable food items.
Shred Day will happen in the ballpark's parking lot.
Comerica Bank says in a news release that it collected enough paper at Shred Day events across the country last year to cover the entire Comerica Park playing field more than 500 times.
