GM announces production reduction at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant

General Motors confirms a reduction in production at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant.

The automaker says it is trying to reduce vehicle inventories to better match demand for the vehicles made at the facility.

GM is not confirming details on possible layoffs as part of the reduction.

The reduction is said to be permanent, and the new production schedule will take effect on October 20. 

Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly builds the following vehicles: Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Volt.
