DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit grassroots organization Hey Y'all Detroit is hosting a free produce drive Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Rosemont- Acacia park area.
Residents can also get smoothies and raw juice during the drive.
Hey Y'all Detroit focuses on combating food disparities in the city by providing residents with free produce and education on nutrition, said organization founder Charmane Neal.
The organization achieves this goal by focusing on what's described as the "five pillars of community," which are: feeling connected, responsibility and life skills, emotional and physical well-being, academic success and career planning, social justice and engaged citizenship.
Sunday's free produce drive will take place at Rosemont-Acacia Park, 14351 Ashton from 1 to 4 p.m.
